So I will update a bit with what I am doing this fine fall. So far in school I am doing good. Algebra is giving me trouble. But World Civilization 1600 and Philosophy are great so far. One more month until Christmas break!

On Sunday I want to attend the Sunday special at Goggle Works.

The GoggleWorks Center for the Arts is a prime example of adaptive reuse in architecture, and derives its name from the original structure from which it evolved. Where there is now a hub of community activity bringing people together in the arts and culture, there once stood a leader in the safety industry whose groundbreaking innovations spanned over a century.

In the midst of hopes and plans for the revitalization of the greater Reading area, the City of Reading recognized the value and the character of these buildings, and their potential to serve the community in a whole new way. Plans to develop a community arts and cultural resource center began, fueled by the proven success of similar adaptive reuse arts center projects. By converting abandoned factories, these community arts centers have revitalized their areas, maintaining local historical and architectural integrity while inspiring a cultural and economic resurgence as the community and visitors come together to create, appreciate, and celebrate the arts.

I recently signed up for a fun holiday craft swap!

It’s finally here! Kathleen, of cake & pie, and I have been doing lots of planning, and your 2007 Holiday Ornament Swap sign-ups begin right now.

The guidelines are simple:

1. Sign up for the swap by sending an email with the following information to holidayswap07@yahoo.com by November 9th.
- name
- address
- email address
- you website or blog (only one site please)
- whether your are willing to ship internationally
(Note that when you submit your information please submit it in this order with traditional capitalization—it makes things a little easier on our end!)

2. On November 12th you’ll receive an email from us containing the addresses and email addresses of 8-10 other swap participants to send your ornaments to.

3. Design a handmade ornament that you can create multiples of and make your ornaments.

4. Package your ornaments well…especially if you create anything fragile.

This should be lots of fun. I have already started making my ornaments, we’ll see how it goes! I love the snowmen with their flower fabric, cute scarf, and candy cane hoops. If anyone wants an ornament I can make special orders, no charge!

This week was so much fun. This Wednesday was Halloween. Such a fun time full of candy and cute costumes. I must admit, I am about 10 years too old for Halloween, but we’re all kids at heart! I figured Wim would be a good excuse to get candy this year, seeing as he never experienced an American Halloween. Wim and I got some funny masks from Forbes.com.

Hilary Clinton

Obama

They were a big hit among the adults giving out candy. We went to an overly wealthy neighborhood. Not to say that others aren’t wealthy, but these types of people like to show it off. Which means huge candy bars instead of tiny rickrack. They compete with their equally showy neighbors. Anyhow, our masks weren’t too big of a hit with the upper class citizens we ran into. Extra horrifying for those few. I guess they love the low taxes for rich people, and don’t want Clinton or Obama to change that.

We also had dinner at TGIFridays, yummy…thanks for taking us out Chrissy
